**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP MEDIA RELEASE**

On Thursday June 14, 2018 members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment will be running in the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. The run will start at the Northern College entrance at 10:00 a.m. and finish at Pettenuzzo’s Independent Grocer on McChesney Avenue in Kirkland Lake.

This year, law enforcement runners are striving to build on the $3,200 raised in 2017. You can help by calling the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or (705) 567-5355 and making a donation to the Adopt-A-Cop program. Anyone wishing to participate can run, jog, walk or bike. Pledge sheets and t-shirts supporting the run can be purchased at the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment. A fundraising barbecue will be held after the run at Pettenuzzo’s Independent Grocer.

All funds raised across the province help provide a local year-round program of fitness, recreation and competition for the Special Olympic athletes.
