It was another sunny day at Hollinger Park yesterday, and crowds started gathering early for front row spots to see Mariana’s Trench perform as the headliner on Day 3 of Stars and Thunder.

Things got started with Rough Outlook taking the stage shortly after festival gates opened at 3 PM. Their performance was followed by Timmins High’s Sonic Democracy at 4:30.

The crowds were growing steadily throughout the evening as Julian Taylor Band took to the stage at 5:45 PM.

Virginia to Vegas followed that performance with some electro-pop, getting the energy of the crowd geared up for the headliner.

And Mariana’s Trench did not disappoint. The band drew in fans from all over Ontario and Canada, with a few fans even spending the night at the festival gate to make sure they got front row spots to watch the performance (you can read more on the super fans here). The VIP and General Admission sections of the grounds were packed with thousands of people on their feet, enjoying the Canadian band’s set.

The night wrapped up with a booming display of fireworks from Team Finland. You can watch our video coverage of the fireworks show here.

There’s plenty more lined up up for Day 4 of Stars and Thunder, getting underway today at 3 PM at Hollinger Park.
