**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP MEDIA RELEASE**

From Friday June 29, to Monday July 3 2018, the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in the Canada Day long weekend traffic initiative throughout the Kirkland Lake area.

During the traffic initiative, a total of 31 charges were laid.

The charges include 17 speeding violations, 2 drive while under suspension and 12 other Highway Traffic Act violations which include disobey stop sign, fail to surrender insurance card, drive without licence plate, a Small Vessel Regulation violation and an impaired operation charge.

There were neither any serious personal injury collisions nor fatalities on the local highways, waterways and trails.
