**TEMISKAMING OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On July 4, 2018 at approximately 4:23 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Haileybury Fire Department received a call for a small child locked in a vehicle on Farr Drive in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario. 

When OPP arrived, they were informed that the child had been in the vehicle for approximately 20 minutes. OPP broke the window and the child was immediately rescued from the extreme heat.

The child received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by the Temiskaming Ambulance Services.

The 20-year-old female was arrested and charged with:

  • Fail to provide necessaries of life – child or spouse, contrary to section 215 (2)(a)(i) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released by way of Promise to Appear (PTA). She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 24, 2018, in Haileybury, Ontario.
